                        Lot – The Man that Strayed

 

Avoid the Pitfall of a Dumb Decision – 13:1-11

 

            What He Had In Mind…

                        A Decision Made with Finances in Mind – Vs6

                        A Decision Made with Friends in Minds – Vs7

                        A Decision Made with Feelings in Mind – Vs10, 11

 

            What He Did Not Have In Mind…

                        Gave Not Thought to His Future

                        Gave No Thought to His Family

                        Gave No Thought to His Faith

 

Acknowledge the Problem of a Definite Direction – 13:12

 

            He was Headed Away from Blessed Surroundings

                        “take the left hand , then I will go to the right” – Vs9

                        “separated themselves the one from the other.” – Vs11

 

            He was Headed A Way of Brief Satisfaction – Vs10b

                        “before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah,”

 

            He was Headed A Way of Blatant Sin – Vs12-13 – A DANGEROUS DESTINATION!!

                        “wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly”

                        “pitched his tent toward Sodom”

 

Admit the Potential of a Desired Destruction – 13:10

            “that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah,”

 

            Be careful of your desires!

                        They could become your damnation!

           

Be careful of your dreams!

                        They could become your nightmare!

 

A Deceptive Display – 13:10c-11 - Everything that glitters is not gold!

            Looks Good – “lifted up his eyes and beheld”

            Sounds Good – “well watered every where”

            Feels Good – “chose him all the plain of Jordan”
